6 is a factor of 12, 18, 24, 30, ... We say that 12, 18, 24,30, ... , etc. are all multiples of 6. In the same way, 8, 12, 16,20, ... , etc. are all multiples of 4.

Notice that 12 is a multiple of both 6 and 4. We say that 12 is a common multiple of 6 and 4; 24, 36, 48, ... , etc. are also common multiples of 6 and 4.
